Adopting a small animal

Why adopt?

  • Rescues are overwhelmed with small animals in need of new homes.

  • We can give species specific advice and are there for any questions you have in future.

  • All of our animals are vet checked by an exotic specialist vet so you know that you are getting a healthy new addition to your family.

  • Small animals can make lovely additions to a family home, however it's vital that the adults in the household are the care givers and are committed to looking after that animal for its whole life, not just until the children have lost interest. Remember a rabbit lives for around 10 years so this is not a short term commitment.

Rehoming process

1

Application

We read all applications and get in touch with those that look like a good match for a small animal in our care.

2

Home check

If your application looks like a good match and meets the accommodation requirements we will contact you to arrange a home visit - this is a mandatory part of adopting.

3

Meet and greet

Once the home visit is complete we will make an appointment for you to come to the sanctuary to meet suitable small animals.

4

Adoption and post adoption support

We love to see updates about how our former residents are getting on and we offer rescue back up for the rest of the animal’s life.

Taking your small animal home

Adopting a small animal from TAG Pet Rescue means you're giving a loving home to a pet in need while ensuring they receive the best possible care. Here’s everything you need to know about the adoption process, fees, and what's included:

Comprehensive Care for Every Pet

All of our small animals are assessed individually based on their history and what we learn about them while they are in our care. Each species has very different needs and housing requirements. These housing requirements are non-negotiable and have been set by vets and welfare groups to ensure that all types of small animals can lead happy, healthy lives.

Before adoption, every small animal receives:
